The Supported Living Program provides education, support, and housing for individuals with developmental disabilities living in the Metro North area. Our goal is to help participants lead full and independent lives, giving support when needed, but ultimately working to make each individual as independent as possible.
Working one-on-one or in small groups, our mentors teach participants how to maximize their skills in:
- Meal planning and preparation
- Money management
- House work and general cleaning
- Travel training
- Planning social and recreational activities
- Physical activities and exercise
- Scheduling and keeping medical appointments
- Computer skills
- Home safety
The program also provides a support and social network for participants, organizing opportunities that encourage community participation such as:
- Movie nights
- Bowling leagues
- Social Clubs
- All-Guy and All-Girl outings
- Sporting events
- Learning groups
- Dining trips
Most are eligible for up to 15 hours of support weekly but some are eligible for more. Referrals to the program are available through DDS.
